Four dead and school children hurt in California shooting

At least four people are dead and two children are hurt after a series of shootings at multiple locations—including an elementary school—in Northern California Tuesday, according to reports.

The gunman was also shot and killed by police, according to reports.

The shooting reportedly started at a home in Tehama County, which is about 120 miles northeast of Sacramento, before moving to the elementary school at around 8 a.m., authorities said.

Four people have been killed and several schoolchildren wounded in a shooting spree in northern California.

The gunman was also shot dead by police after he opened fire at a primary school in Rancho Tehama Reserve on Tuesday morning.

At least seven people including three children were being treated in hospital after the attacker began "randomly picking targets", police said.

Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said one child had been shot at the school and another was shot in a truck with a woman who was also wounded.

He told reporters: "Multiple shots were fired in Rancho Tehama. That evolved into multiple victims and multiple shots at the elementary school."
